E-Sports (also known as electronic sports, competitive (video) gaming, professional (video) gaming) can be defined as a form of sports where the input of players and teams as well as the output of the E-Sports system are mediated by human-computer interfaces. E-Sports take the form of organized multiplayer video game competitions, particularly real-time strategy, fighting, first-person shooter (FPS), and multiplayer online battle arena (MOBA).
The Sri Lankan eSports scene, largely initiated by the gamer.lk community, now sees a growing member base where competitive events such as SLCG are organized annually. More frequent events are also organized by gaming cafes around the island, while enthusiast retail stores such as Redline Technologies fuel interest in the category.
